Karam has over ten years experience working with families and young people in the field of difference, disability and neurodiversity. Karam teaches on neurodiversity and how barriers to inclusion may be overcome at both personal and policy levels. His research focuses on positive mental health and communication for people with autism and intellectual disabilities and on the special educational needs  system  in the UK. He is currently a senior lecturer but has previously held various roles in charities and SEND schools, most recently as an assistant head teacher.
