Explores how our support systems in the workplace can be better shaped to ensure inclusion and equality of colleagues of all heritage.
Participants understand introductory concepts related to ‘equity’, ‘diversity’ and ‘inclusion’.

ConnectFutures developed a series of workshops on Racial Justice for the Moonshot team. From the start they focused on tailoring these workshops to the specifics of our team - their level of understanding, the work they are engaged in, and issues within our wider industry and really pitched it at the right level for us. I was also impressed at the fact they revisited and edited plans for each of the workshops between sessions, focusing on what had worked well in previous sessions to build these into a really useful series of events. They delivered all their sessions online, with exceptional facilitation to build engagement and interaction on a topic many may have found hard to discuss. Feedback from our team was extremely positive - they said they valued the space ConnectFutures created for navigating difficult discussions, and felt confidence in Moonshot for making these workshops a priority. Our team are better able to identify and address complex issues related to racial justice, particularly those significant in our sector as a result of ConnectFutures' work.

The Prince’s Trust has worked with ConnectFutures for a number of years, most recently running an EDI and Anti-Racism session for The Trust’s People and Learning Team. This thought-provoking and highly interactive session provided an introduction to some key issues and concepts related to race and racial justice in the UK. This was an invaluable session for us as a team, challenging our understanding of difficult topics and equipping us to have better dialogue around these. As a People and Learning team, we have particular responsibility across the organisation to take a lead on EDI, and the session helped us to understand the responsibilities of successful equality, diversity and inclusion within the organisation, and act as advocates and allies in all our interactions. Following the session we were able to create a much more informed EDI action plan for the team with areas of focus such as recruitment, talent management, and accessibility of development opportunities. We’ve also been able to work on developing a cultural competency training module for all staff in the organisation. The work we have done with ConnectFutures is so important to The Trust because we aim to become one of the most equal, diverse and inclusive organisations serving young people in the UK, but we can’t hope to do that until we fully understand what this means to us as an organisation. ConnectFutures have provided us with the framework, context, language and tools to be able to start putting this into meaningful practice.

Before delivering any training, we’d like your trainer to be aware of certain issues which we’d like handling sensitively. Can I share this with you pre-booking?

Yes. Please capture this information on the booking form as it’s helpful for our trainers. If there are any specific issues or incidents that the trainer should be aware of, or dynamics that are of concern to you then do let us know. Please note, this info will NOT be shared externally.

Yes. We specialise in creating bespoke and tailored content for each cohort and audience, through close communication during the design process. Our facilitators are highly skilled at adapting to the moment, but the more we can learn about an audience and their contexts beforehand, the more planning and design we can build into your workshop or programme.  

Bespoke content is only created for workshops that are one day long in duration.

All our trainers have an enhanced DBS check undertaken. Once a workshop is booked, we will email you their DBS details including their DBS numbers for your records. Staff do NOT carry certificates to sessions; however, they will have their ID badges with them. For your records, we can confirm that all our staff are enhanced DBS checked and are not barred from working with children.

Whatever you decide.  We advise youth workshops to be delivered as a face to face delivery in settings and we’ve found adults/community members and practitioners tend to prefer online deliveries and more people are likely to sign up. Online deliveries save you time on booking a space/refreshments costs/covid secure too, but we’re happy to work around your needs.  We’ll still deliver a brilliant workshop.

We don’t tend to put a limit on numbers. A note that smaller numbers encourage people to ask more questions on some of the topics we talk about as the environment is less formal.

We tend to take the lead from your organisational spaces. For young people in year groups, we tend to deliver in assembly settings. For adults, we’d suggest cabaret style seating with tables (if space allows) so people can write and take notes and participate in group activities.  In this type of setting, smaller numbers encourage people to ask more questions on some of the topics we talk about as the environment is less formal. However, classroom and auditorium seating is equally fine.

Our trainers will also bring their memory sticks as a backup.  We cannot email or share slides with you in advance.

Our costs are inclusive of VAT.  Costs typically involves the train journey and overnight cost of the accommodation for a trainer so that we can start a delivery promptly.  

We reserve the right to add train journey fares as an additional cost if your venue is remote from our normal bases.

We tend to deliver on Teams or Zoom but are happy to discuss your needs. 

We will create the Eventbrite link for you and you can then share this link with your colleagues.  The booking process is then entirely your responsibility.  Every fortnight, we will update you on booking numbers too. We will then provide attendees with the Zoom/Teams link 2-3 days beforehand too.

We encourage workshop participants to sign up through Eventbrite at least 3 hours before the event – should you require last minute access a member of our team will manually add you, so please contact us directly.

It’s quite simple. We want to have continued learning after the workshop ends. The catch? If attendees fill out our feedback form link then we’ll add you onto our website learning portal for free. It contains blogs, videos and other learning material. We’ll also send a certificate which can be downloaded. In addition, why not join our 5000+ online community that can be accessed on our LinkedIn group called “Safeguarding & anti-extremism best practice group.”

Yes, we can create and design a bespoke programme of offerings for you and our organisations and settings.  This is the type of work we’re passionate about so that we can see change meaningfully incorporated across different sectors. Our trainers are adept at working with both adults and young people!

We do not allow settings to record our material, but our resources and post-workshop materials are in-depth so you really don’t need to!

We appreciate that occasions arise which necessitate clients/schools, PRUs and colleges to cancel their course due to unforeseen circumstances and we therefore try to be flexible in our approach to each individual case. In some cases this has an effect on our costs and resources, i.e. accommodation, trainer and transport costs and we must try to ensure that all parties are not disadvantaged through loss of earnings etc.

Clients cancelling a course or changing course date delivered by ConnectFutures must do so at least 5 working days in advance in order to avoid paying a 100% cancellation fee.

If a date had been booked, and due to COVID-19 related issues, the organisation deems face to face delivery impossible, then we will revert to online delivery for the date that’s been booked.

It will be your duty to alert us (CONNECTFUTURES) so that we can be flexible. There is no guarantee of an alternative date being found prior to the course date as current spaces are limited and provided on a first come, first served basis. Any such issues are resolved at the discretion of CONNECTFUTURES.
