Just wanted to let you know that the staff were really impressed with the “Understanding Prevent: Beyond Wrap” 1 hour training last week.  The videos proved to be most powerful and staff came to tell me how they thought the training had provoked their own questions about not one profile and how joining a gang is similar to becoming radicalised.  I have directed staff to your ConnectFutures website too.  Thanks again and I will be sharing this with other Head Teacher colleagues at my consortium meetings.

All three White Rose Academies worked with ConnectFutures to bring the exploration of core British values into the contemporary context of the ‘Prevent’ and wider PSHCE curriculum. The five ‘Speak Up Stand Up’ training sessions were truly enabling for those students involved, allowing them to find their own voice to tell their own stories, as well as involving inspirational input from staff too.
This very active and engaging approach to what can be a minefield for schools to navigate was made possible by the academies taking a wide perspective on the challenge set by ‘Prevent’ in its broadest sense and then working with ConnectFutures to create the tailored programme.

The main concern will the young people is that they do not have the right tools, skills or knowledge to deal with certain situations they may face. The session delivery was vibrant, fun and factual. The young people were fully engaged with the topics that were being discussed. The facilitator has kept the audience interested and motivated considering the seriousness of the topics that were being delivered. It was important that the facilitators interjected humour, which they did both so naturally.

I was reluctant to attend the (BRAVE) session as I thought it was going to be like Prevent, this was completely different and even though the information is similar the speakers put a different twist onto the session. The session was great and certainly will tell my friends about this.

Student, FE College, London

I have had the pleasure to work with the ConnectFutures team for the last 18 months, when I commissioned them to help the police to engage young people from communities around the West Midlands. The work was well-structured, enabled empowerment, and created an opportunity for young people to really have a voice. ConnectFutures applied assessment, review and academic insight, which really helped us in the commissioning process. It gave West Midlands Police feedback, which we can now use to help design more meaningful relationships with young people for the future. I am so thankful for their help and support in making the West Midlands community a better and more engaged society.
What I love about the team is their “can do” attitude, fresh thinking, creativity and most of all, the independent, credible role they maintain. They are not wedded to chasing a contract – remaining ethical – and sometimes are a critical friend to my work.

The two BRAVE sessions (by ConnectFutures and St Giles Trust) were excellent, well delivered and well received by the students.  We did Y12 and Y13 separately… It does tick OFSTED boxes but it is more than that, very valuable and worthwhile.
